TESOL, the full name of "Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages", is a globally recognized professional qualification certificate for ESL (teaching English as a Second language) teachers. The certificate represents the international standard of English teaching skills. As a master's degree program, the TESOL Major takes 2-3 years to complete in the United Kingdom and the United States.
In 2017, the original teaching content of the TESOL degree course was introduced by Yunchi International Culture and Education Center of Beijing Diplomatic Service Bureau from the United States. The center designed it into a certificate course more suitable for Chinese learners through online and offline approaches. As currently the only certificate with official background in China, the TESOL Certificate, it has been widely used in over 120 countries worldwide and more than 30,000 learners have became the certificate holders.
JECIE introduced the TESOL International English Teacher Qualification Certificate program, and was approved as the 14th authorized examination center in China in September 2023. This program aims to improve the professional quality of English teachers in Jiangsu Province, update teaching concepts and enrich teaching methods, cultivate teachers with international vision, meet Chinese characteristic needs of English teachers, as well as broaden the employment channels of students. As the only cooperative organization and authorized test center in Jiangsu Province and also in East China, JECIE has launched the "Excellent English Teacher Promotion Plan" for college teachers and the "TESOL International English Teacher Advanced Certificate Project" for college students, and will continue to conduct offline examination.
